Epic Community Army Parade Submission Guidelines

Introduction:

As the pandemic has seen many people returning to their Epic armies of old, I've been struck by the wonderful and inspiring collections that I've seen across social media. A lifelong fan of Epic, I think these fantastic collections deserve to be seen by as wide an audience as possible and, since my video editing skills have slowly been improving, I am offering anyone who'd like to see their armies showcased in one of my videos to send me their pictures of their collections!

What Will The Video Look Like?

Epic friend Simon Fearn submitted his photos so this is exactly the kind of video you can expect:

What Will The Video Sound Like?

As the video has no narration, a background track will be placed over the video. Sawtooth Synth's 80's-inspired synth music - as featured on the Alien RPG & The Killing Strontium Dog videos - are available for use. In addition, Simon Fearn, whose work you can see in the above video and whose band Against The Grain provide the soundtrack for that has graciously offered the use of the same music for other videos in this series. Please therefore indicate your preference when submitting about the type of soundtrack you'd like!

Want To Listen To Against The Grain?

If you would like copies of Against The Grain's tracks for your own listening pleasure, please contact Simon directly through any of the following methods:

And you can follow Against The Grain on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/atgbanduk

How Do You Go About This?

Well, first you need to photograph your Epic armies!

Guidelines For Photography

You can submit either portrait or landscape pictures. With the medium of Youtube being used, landscape photography naturally fills the 16:9 aspect ratio (unfamiliar with the terminology, think of the shape of your tv screen, most of these are 16:9), but portrait photos can also be used. In fact, the majority of the photos in Simon's video are portrait! To prevent the bars appearing down either side of the image, an artificial camera move is created and the image will be scanned either up or down. Please refer to Simon's video to see this in action!

I do, however, strongly recommend landscape images for your overview pics showing an entire army on the table, but how you want to take the more detailed pics is left at a submitter's personal discretion.

30 images is the minimum required for a single video to be created. Note that no more than 2 different images showing different angles of a close up of a particular infantry/vehicle unit will be considered in a video, and more often than not, I'd prefer to use only one close up of a given unit. In the case of Praetorians and Titans, a maximum of 3 images - all from different angles - would be considered.

Where Do I Send

Once you have your armies pictured, please email them to me at thebissler@gmail.com

Does Your Name Have To Appear On The Video?

No. If you prefer to be referred to under an alias, this is not a problem. Simon chose to have his name displayed, but equally if he preferred I used an online pseudonym, I would have published it with that. For a long time, I only posted online under the alias of The Bissler so I understand why contributors would want to protect their anonymity.

How Quickly Will Your Video Appear?

This depends upon the demand I'm facing. To be fair to all contributors, I will publish no more than one video per week. If there is high demand for this, it potentially could take weeks or months before videos can be published. If there is a significant lead time, I will inform you of this so you have an idea of how long you'll have to wait.

Is There A Charge For This Service?

Absolutely not!

Where Will Your Video Appear?

The video will be published on my Life of Die channel. I will share this on relevant Epic groups on Facebook and to my Twitter. I reserve the right to share the video elsewhere.

How Long Will Your Video Remain On My Channel?

Forever - unless I were to apply advertising to your video and you requested it be taken down.

Advertising On Your Video

No adverts currently feature on my channel, but I reserve the right to use them in future. Contributors would not be able to claim any revenue gained from such advertising as revenues would likely be small. Also, with potentially hundreds of contributors taking part in this community project, splitting profits from small sums would not be viable. If I were to monetise the channel, you have the right to request that I remove the video from my channel altogether.

Providing Links To Your Other Projects

Should you have any blogs, or other projects you wish to share, I will include these in the video and in the description. Again, please view Simon's video above for an example as I dropped links for his band Against The Grain. I reserve the right to refuse to link to anything I deem as unsuitable for my channel.

If you're happy with all of the above, I look forward to hearing from you - and showcasing your Epic armies!

Cheers,

Gordon
