X-Wing Galactic Civil War Episode IX: Ryloth

Welcome to the ninth instalment of our X-Wing Miniatures Game Campaign. If you want to get up to speed, please have a look around this blog to find previous instalments and the campaign rules.

The Empire set their sights on the Twi'lek homeworld of Ryloth in the Outer Rim of the galaxy but once again encounter fierce resistance from the Rebel Alliance...

The Galaxy Map ahead of the battle

The Imperial force consists of 3 TIE Advanced Fighters and a TIE Interceptor.

The Rebels use the same force that ran rampant over Dagobah, 2 X-Wings, a B-Wing and a Y-Wing.

Turn 1: The Rebels negotiate the asteroid field while the Imperials accelerate to attack speed outside the field.

End of Turn 1

Turn 2: The TIE Interceptor strips the shields of the X-Wing before being obliterated in one shot by the B-Wing's HLC!

The B-Wing's Heavy Laser Cannon tears apart the Interceptor!

A TIE Advanced fires at the X-Wing, inflicting one point of damage - before it loses its shields to the Y-Wing's Twin Laser Turret, with the under fire X-Wing finishing the TIE Advanced!

Disaster for the Empire with 2 ships destroyed in the first exchange of fire! End of Turn 2

Turn 3: An X-Wing lands on an asteroid and the precision piloting of the TIE Advanced Fighters deprives the Rebels of any firing (too close to the Y-Wing to allow it to use the TLT). The TIE Advanced strip the Y-Wing of its shields.

Turn 4: The Y-Wing takes 2 hits to its hull and the Rebels take one shield from a TIE Advanced.

End of Turn 4

Turn 5: The Y-Wing suffers more damage but one TIE Advanced is destroyed while the other only has a single hull point left!

Turn 6: Even though an X-Wing and the Y-Wing are on the brink of death, the Empire have been unable to destroy any of the Rebel ships. Despite having a whopping 5 evade dice, an X-Wing lands a single point of damage on the last TIE Advanced...

Zero luck for the Imperials!

...and it is destroyed, ending the battle!

The Empire are defeated again!

The Rebels now have a firm grip of several Outer Rim Systems - and can make an attempt to unlock another pilot next battle! In addition, they are on the brink of another Major Faction Victory which could result in the Empire losing another world to rebellion! Can they do anything to recover? X-Wing Galactic Civil War Episode VIII: Dagobah

Welcome to the eighth instalment of our X-Wing Campaign. If you're new to this campaign, please have a quick look through the home page on this blog where you'll not only find the previous episodes but the campaign rules too!

Perhaps unknowingly attracted to the light side of the Force, the Rebels make a move to secure the swamp world of Dagobah in the latest conflict in the Galactic Civil War.

Turn 1: Ships move to attack speed. Out of range for firing.

End of Turn 1

Turn 2: All Imperial fire concentrates on one X-Wing, stripping its shields and destroying its astromech. Returning fire was concentrated solely on the Firespray, stripping all shields and inflicting 2 damage!

Turn 3: Due to expert piloting from both factions, all ships complete their manoeuvres without any bumps! With both sides in close quarters, there is a deadly exchange of laser fire!

Couldn't be any closer!

The X-Wing is taken to the brink with only 1 damage point left - but the Firespray is torn apart by enemy fire! To add insult to injury, the Defender also loses 2 shields!

Turn 4: The Imperials finally destroy the X-Wing - but both of their ships suffer returning fire and both only have a single damage point left!

Turn 5: More fancy flying sees the TIE evade a double volley of TLT shots...

...but the B-Wing's Heavy Laser Cannon finally ends it! The X-Wing fails to finish the TIE Defender...

Turn 6: The Defender comes around but its fire is once again ineffective...

...but the Rebels do not miss as the remaining X-Wing obliterates the TIE Defender!

The Galaxy Map

After their crushing defeat over Tatooine, the Imperial fleet attack Rodia in the adjacent system on the Outer Rim. A world of jungles, swamps and oceans, it seems there will be little to stand in their way...but once again the Rebels are in attendance to resist Imperial oppression!

The same force that excelled over Tatooine - a U-Wing and 3 X-Wings - returns to vanquish the Empire again!

The Imperials, stung by their latest crushing defeat, dispense with the previous squad and call in a bounty hunter piloting a Firespray. Accompanying the bounty hunter is a TIE Punisher, armed up with cluster missiles, while two Obsidian TIE Fighters complete the squadron.

Turn 1: In scenes reminiscent of the opening moments at the battle of Tatooine, the U-Wing evades all incoming fire! The TIE Punisher loses a shield.

End of Turn 1

Turn 2: Against two volleys of cluster missiles, the U-Wing miraculously only loses 2 shields! The TIEs and Firespray strip an X-Wing of its shields and destroys its integrated astromech! The focus of the Rebel response, the TIE Punisher, takes an absolute battering, losing all shields and suffering 5 damage!

End of Turn 2

Turn 3: Their training at the Imperial Academy pays dividends as the Rebels suddenly find themselves completely out of position and under fire! One X-Wing is on the brink of destruction while the U-Wing has lost all of its shields!

Turn 4: The TIE Punisher - launching another volley of cluster missiles - and the Firespray take another X-Wing to the brink of destruction but still they cannot deliver a killing blow! An X-Wing meanwhile performs a banking K-Turn and finds the TIE Punisher in its sights...
